The Real Life Story of the Permian Panthers Football Dynasty

Don Billingsley is living proof that hard work and determination is the only way to achieve true success.  As a teenager, Don was raised in the Permian Basin of West Texas in the city of Odessa.  His story is one of many successes that remain fresh in his mind and heart.  As a member of the famed 1988 Permian Panther football team, Don exceled as a running back for one of the most celebrated high school football teams in history.  In the book and movie "Friday Night Lights", you clearly understand what it means to be perfect.  This group of celebrated high school football players experienced football in a different way than most teams do.  Coached by Gary Gaines, these young men learned the principles of winning and losing.  Most importantly, they learned how to achieve success on a different level.  Coach Gaines instilled principles like determination, leadership, perseverance, dedication and winning.  In the real life saga of MOJO, this group of young men cradle the very hearts of those who follow them in their quest for the state title and that infamous state championship ring. To say that the Permian football program is at the core of Odessa and it's citizens is somewhat of an understatement. It's gospel.

At the very core of Odessa there looms a spirit that never settles.  This spirit has been alive since the late 1950's.  The 1980's presents proof of the legacy that these young men carried on. From 1980 to 1989, this legendary high school football squad lost only 8 games in the Texas AAAAA Division. In Texas, that is monumental.

The true story of the Permian Panthers and the soldiers that made up this army of one will leave you in an inspired state of mind. Don will convey to you what he felt as he battled some of the most brutal opponents in the country.  He will take you on a journey inside the real life, well oiled machine called "MOJO Football". He takes you inside the heart of the community, the fans, locker room, field huddles, the game and most important of all, the heart of each player who suited up for battle. This journey is filled with underlying principles that will start you on the right path to personal achievement and self mastery.  His speaking programs are inspirational and informative.
