Marshawn Evans is the President and CEO of Communication Counts, the Atlanta-based consulting firm that has consulted with politicians, athletes, entertainers, and media personalities.  Marshawn is one of the most sought after young consultants in the United States because of her creative insight in the field of Human Potential.  Her professionally developed leadership programs have changed lives around the country and continues to stir emotional leadership skills within those who implement her principles.  Marshawn has founded many non-profit organizations as well as those for-profit endeavors that have answered the call to summon the leadership and performance attributes of individuals in all age groups.

As Miss District of Columbia, she finished 3rd runner-up winning the talent and interview at the Miss America Competition in 2001.  She is a national spokesperson on youth crime prevention and leadership development, and worked with the U.S. Justice Department as a co-founder of the National Youth Network.  In 1996, she founded America CAN!, a comprehensive non-profit youth leadership initiative.  As a professional consultant, public speaker and activist, she has addressed over 400 audiences at conferences, seminars, universities, and events around the country on leadership, communication, self-image, and her ongoing platform "United Against Crime: Investing in Youth for a Safer Future."

Once underestimated and labeled a "problem child," Marshawn believes in providing youth with the skills and motivation they need to succeed.  She encourages young people to make positive choices regarding education, peers, drugs, and alcohol.  She states that, "ALL children can learn and that ALL children can succeed!  It's up to America to make sure that happens."

Because of her passion for youth, Marshawn was given the "Strengthening the Voice of Youth Across America Award" by the U.S. Justice Department, and the Miss America National Community Service Award.  Then-Governer George W. Bush appointed her to the Texas Juvenile Justice Advisory Board at the age of 19, and she was later named the National Juvenile Justice Advisory Council in Washington, DC.

Marshawn gratuated magna cum laude from Texas Christian University with honors and distinction, and was named a Harry S. Truman Scholar.  She is also a USA Today's All-Academic First Team member, an ambassador to the International Summit of Achievement in Dublin, Ireland, and one of Glamour Magazine's "Top Ten College Women."

Marshawn then received her Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center, where she served as a criminal defense attorney in the Juvenile Justice Clinic and as a litigator on Georgetown's world-recognized International Commercial Arbitration Team competing in Vienna, Austria.  Marshawn was born and raised in Dallas, TX, and now currently resides in Atlanta, GA where she is a litigator with a top Atlanta law firm.
